Chickatawbut Woods, Framingham

Update: July 2, 2021: 
We have protected the property! On June 28th, SVT purchased Chickatawbut Woods from the Framingham Civic League, and on June 29th a permanent conservation restriction was put on the property, held by the City of Framingham. Thank you to everyone who supported this project. Prospect Hill Community Orchard, Harvard

Prospect Hill Orchard is made up of 75 stunning acres in Harvard. Since 2014, it has been owned and operated by Community Harvest Project, a nonprofit with a mission to engage volunteers in the fight against hunger. Since 2015, CHP has donated over 360,000 pounds of apples to food banks with the help of hundreds of volunteers.

Now, in an effort to protect this important piece of land and to ensure the future of this charitable work, a team of partners are working to raise funds to endow the orchard:

We are pleased to announce that Deven Moroney and Kayleen Larose have joined the SVT staff as Seasonal Stewardship Technicians. Hiring new staff during a time of social distancing is tricky, but our Stewardship staff is successfully training Deven and Kayleen while following all safety precautions.

In place of our usual in-person outings and educational events, SVT has scheduled several webinar programs for this summer.

Topics will include beavers, wildflowers, and monarch butterflies. Some programs are open exclusively to SVT members.

O'Donnell Property, Marlborough

We did it! 33 acres has been added to Callahan State Park. 

For several years, SVT supported the efforts of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the City of Marlborough to expand the 958-acre Callahan State Park by acquiring the 33-acre O’Donnell Property in Marlborough.
