Grist Mill Area Expansion, Marlborough.

SVT's Grist Mill Pond Conservation Area on the Marlborough-Sudbury line is home to native plants such as winterberry and highbush blueberry with impressively large and statuesque oak trees. SVT has owned and protected this important wetland habitat since we purchased 18.1 acres in 1975 and were given an additional 1.68 acres in 1981.

In June 2022, we were fortunate to expand this conservation area when a neighboring landowner, the Hutch family, donated their 4.4-acre parcel that provided a further buffer to the wildlife habitats. We also received support from generous donors who helped cover the transaction and stewardship costs associated with the acquisition.

We were delighted to again expand the Grist Mill Pond Conservation Area in February 2023, when another member of the Hutch family donated an adjoining 2.7-acre parcel for permanent protection. Now, SVT owns nearly 27 acres of habitat along a scenic section of Route 20.
