Privacy Policy

Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT) is committed to protecting the private information of those who interact with us online. Our policy is that no personal information will be collected (passively or without your knowledge) about you when you visit us online by directly accessing the SVT website, other than what you supply to us on a voluntary basis.

Collection of Personal Information

If during your visit to our site you only browse, read pages, or download material, we cannot collect any information that will identify you personally or determine your e-mail address.

Other areas of our site may request that you provide personal information such as your name, address, or e-mail address. All of this information is stored in a password protected database.

E-mail Addresses

If you provide an email address it will be added to our email contact list. We will send you notices about upcoming programs and events, or information that may meet your interests with links to relevant SVT web pages. The email contact list is managed in-house, and we never exchange, rent or sell email addresses. If you do not wish to be on the email contact list, please notify us and we will honor your request.

Member Information

Member information is never sold or rented. However, the organization occasionally exchanges on a one-for-one basis the names and street addresses of a limited number of Members with other nonprofit organizations and selected for-profit companies. Members who wish to opt-out of these exchanges may elect to do so by sending an email to [email protected]. To help us locate your record, please provide us with your street address in the e-mail.

Cookies and Aggregate Information

This website employs cookie technology. A “cookie” is a small piece of information that a website asks your browser to store on your hard drive. This information helps the website “recognize” you instantly. Cookies recall information you entered before so you don’t have to reenter it again, keep track of items you put into your shopping cart, tell us what pages on the site you previously visited, and help us determine whether you came to the site from a particular internet link. If you prefer, you can disable cookies on your browser settings. You may still use our website, even with cookies disabled.

Our website automatically logs information such as IP address and browser type of all visitors in order to measure the usage of our website. We use this information to analyze how visitors use our site, which helps us improve our visitors' experience.

Data Security

Personal information you provide to SVT is kept confidential and protected using industry-standard technology, such as firewalls and secure socket layers (SSL), a sophisticated internet encryption technology that scrambles data as it travels from your computer to our website’s server. The information collected is only distributed to relevant staff members (e.g., membership staff, land protection staff, stewardship staff, tech support) depending on the nature of the inquiry.

We use outside credit card processing companies to process online credit card transactions for goods and donations. These companies do not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes. Online transactions made via credit card are encrypted via SSL (secure socket layer) technology.

SVT has corporate anti-virus protection at both the server and desktop levels that is updated regularly to ensure maximum protection.

Changes in Information Practices

From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our Privacy Policy. If our information practices change in the future, we will post the policy changes to our website to notify users of these changes and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. If you are concerned about how your information may be used, you should check our website periodically. A revised Privacy Policy will apply only to data collected subsequent to its effective date.

Please be aware that when you click on links that take you to third-party websites, you will be subject to the third parties’ privacy policies, not ours. While we support the protection of privacy on the internet, we cannot be responsible for the actions of third parties. Therefore, we encourage you to read third-party privacy policies whenever interacting with, and prior to providing any personal information to, another website.

Questions

SVT welcomes comments and questions on this policy. We are dedicated to protecting your personal information and will make every reasonable effort to keep that information secure. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected] or 978-443-5588.
