Baffling the Beavers
On a cloudy December day, SVT's Dan Stimson worked with volunteers Dan Clawson, Ken Appel, and Carole Hohl to install a water flow device in a beaver dam at Upper Mill Brook in Wayland.
The water flow device will let the beavers stay in their habitat while preventing the brook from flooding and causing public health and safety issues at nearby roads and residences.
This is a win-win for everyone, as beavers play an important role in nature. Beaver dams not only provide homes for beavers, they also create watering holes that support numerous species of wildlife.
Thank you to the volunteers who helped with this project!
