Upton Conserves 92 Acres

The Mechanic Street Property in Upton is conserved! The Town of Upton has purchased these 92 acres that include a beautiful vernal pool and several intermittent streams. Part of a mosaic of open space and wildlife habitat, the property has long been a priority for protection. 

Congratulations to the Town, which used Community Preservation Act funds to cover part of the purchase price. Congratulations also to a local group that raised over $150,000 toward the purchase through a community crowdfunding campaign.

SVT also contributed to the purchase, and will hold a conservation restriction on the property. Going forward, we’ll work with the Upton Conservation Commission to create trails and help manage the land.
