During a ceremony on Sunday, October 17, SVT officially renamed the trail at the Hazel Brook Conservation Area in Wayland in honor of long-time Board member Marylynn Gentry.

A Wayland resident who passed away in 2019, Marylynn was an avid supporter of conservation throughout her life. In addition to serving on the SVT Board of Directors for 20 years (four of which she served as Board President), she also served as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Land Trust Coalition and the Harvard Conservation Trust.

Marylynn also had been a member of the Wayland Conservation Commission and was instrumental in the passage of the Community Preservation Act and in the protection of many of Wayland’s natural areas. She inspired innumerable people to come together to conserve open spaces and she made an everlasting impact on some of our region’s most prized natural areas.
