A Solstice Message

Dear Friends:  

On this winter solstice - a day when winter’s shadow casts long into the day - I would like to share the following poem by Wendell Berry. The poem is a reminder that even in times of darkness, there is abundant life and beauty. 

I urge you to venture out on one of our long winter nights – no flashlight! - and let your ears guide you. I promise, it’ll make you feel fully alive!

To Know the Dark
Wendell Berry

To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.
