Scouts Build Bridge at Mainstone Farm

A group of Boy Scouts from Wayland recently improved the trails at Mainstone Farm by building a bridge over an intermittent stream.

The area had been previously dammed up with logs and sticks that acted as a makeshift crossing but often filled with standing water. The new sturdy bridge provides an easy crossing that lets water pass underneath to prevent pooling.

Thank you to the Boy Scouts who worked on the project, which helped them prepare for a wilderness-and-work trip to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Thank you also to their supervisor, Peter Lane, and to Shelley Trucksis, our Mainstone Preserve Steward who particpated as well.

Projects like this protect the ecological properties of our natural areas while also making our trails safer for visitors.
