Laura Mattei Adds Voice to Pesticide Policies

We were proud to learn that Laura Mattei, SVT’s Director of Stewardship, has been appointed to the newly created Conservationist Pesticide Advisory Council for the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR). 

The council will advise the MDAR Pesticide Board on the development of statewide pesticide policies and regulations. Previously, only the pesticide industry had an advisory council before the Board.

As part of the Conservationist Pesticide Advisory Council, Laura will encourage the MDAR Pesticide Board to consider the potential harm to human and environmental health before establishing  new pesticide policies. She is the sole representative of the Massachusetts land trust community on the council, and we know she will be a strong voice for our concerns.
