Congratulations to the Town of Acton! On Wednesday, July 23, the Town held a Grand Opening ceremony for the newly acquired Clement & Elizabeth H. Moritz Conservation Land on Wetherbee Street. SVT supported the Town's effort to purchase this 33-acre property in April, and we accepted a conservation restriction on the land in June.

SVT's Meredith Houghton, Senior Land Protection Specialist, was invited to share a few comments prior to the ribbon cutting for some new loop trails.

Others who addressed the gathering included Acton Town Manager John Mangiaratti, Conservation Agent Olivia Barksdale, Select Board Member Alissa Nicol, and Susan Mitchell-Hardt of the Acton Conservation Trust.

Henry Lease, an intern for State Representative Simon Cataldo, presented a legislative citation from the House of Representatives to the Town of Acton, recognizing the importance of the conservation effort.

The Town acquired the land from the Moritz Family through a generous bargain sale. The property sits adjacent to the neighboring 73-acre Wetherbee Conservation Land to create 100+ contiguous acres of protected habitat. Located in the Nashoba Brook corridor, the land also helps to safeguard critical wetlands in the area.

Following the ribbon cutting, the gathering headed out for the first official walk along the trails in this forested landscape.
