First Boardwalk Completed at Lyons-Cutler
Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, our Lyons-Cutler Conservation Land in Sudbury now sports a new boardwalk. This is the first of two boardwalks we plan to install at Lyons-Cutler this spring, thanks to a $10,000 grant from The Public Lands Fund, a program of Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation.
The large group of volunteers, along with SVT's Dan Stimson and Jane Maloney, constructed the boardwalk on April 19 during National Volunteer Week. The boardwalk crosses a muddy section of the trail and makes it easier for visitors to connect to the Town of Sudbury's adjacent Landham Brook Marsh property. It also protects the underlying wetlands from heavy foot traffic.
We expect to start construction on a second boardwalk at Lyons-Cutler in the coming months, and we'll announce the volunteer workday in our Program Calendar and in our Monthly News e-newsletter.
