Sudbury Valley Trustees is a non-profit organization and relies on volunteers help to protect and steward land.

CURRENT NEEDS  

  • Office Coverage: Variety of shifts, Mon-Fri are available.  Primary responsibilities include assistance with mailings, organizing files, and answering phones.
  • Invasive plant mapping at SVT Reservations.  Work will begin in Spring 2009.  We will provide training and technical support.  Interested volunteers should have some plant identification experience and be willing to bush whack.  We will start with Memorial Forest in Sudbury.  {Mapping will be followed by invasive plant control field work.} Link to Volunteer Job DescriptionContact Laura Mattei.
  • We are recruiting adults in the communities of Framingham, Sudbury, Southborough, and Wayland to serve as Liaisons in our Youth Conservation Steward Program.  Liaisons provide guidance and oversight to youths, aged 11 – 17 years old working on conservation projects with SVT.  These projects involve trail work, habitat restoration, environmental education, etc.  The orientation and training is scheduled for Tuesday, February 10th (evening).  Link to Volunteer Job DescriptionContact Laura Mattei.

Office Support/Mailings

Help out at SVT offices clipping and organizing newspaper articles, assisting staff on special projects, or stuffing and labeling mailings

Events Specialist

Be a representative of SVT at an event by manning a table providing information about SVT

Outings Leader

Plan and lead (or co-lead) an outdoor event/activity on an SVT property, such as a walk

Invasives control

Help cut, pull and pile invasive plants that are overtaking our native flora.

Trail work

Assist staff and other volunteers with trail blazing, signing, or trail maintenance.

Certified Applicator

Assist with invasive plant control. Apply herbicide (spray or paint) at restoration project sites.  Must have Massachusetts Certified Applicator license.

If you are interested in a short-term opportunity

Office Support/Mailings

Computer Help

Use your computer savy to help SVT staff with various computer projects, such as database entry, web design/layout, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

Trail Keeper

Perform trail maintenance tasks on various reservations as needed.   One day/month or more.  Experience with hand and power tools essential.

Youth Groups

We welcome scout leaders and other groups that would like to sponsor an SVT property or project.  For examples, please click here(Our youth projects are suitable for 11 to 17 year olds)

Gardeners

We need help in maintaining several gardens at Wolbach Farm--regular weeding, annual planting and assistance in long term planning.  On your schedule.

Certified Applicator

Assist with invasive plant control. Apply herbicide to cut stems of invasive shrubs. Typically in the late fall. Must have Massachusetts Certified Applicator license.

Preserve Steward

Be the eyes and ears on our reservations!  Help out with basic trail maintenance, pick up trash, and observe wildlife on SVT properties on a regular basis.

Office Coverage

Take a three hour (or more) shift a week answering phones and welcoming visitors to the SVT office in Sudbury. 

Benefit Committee

Help organize one of SVT's Benefit parties, held every year in the early spring. Assistance is needed with decoration selection auction organization, and sponsorship solicitation and much more.
