Dawn Dentzer recorded a video of a spotted salamander rising to the surface for air at a vernal pool in Bolton. Dawn also photographed a mourning cloak butterfly and the catkins and bursting bud of a hazelnut there, too. The mourning cloak butterfly, which shelters through our winter season, is often one of the first butterflies we see as spring approaches.
