Become SVT’s “Eyes, Ears, and Voice” in your community!

As a  Community Ambassador, you will act as a liaison between SVT and your city or town.

SVT has ambitious plans to conserve an additional 12,000 acres of land in the coming decades. To succeed, we will need the support of thousands of new members from the 36 communities in our region.

The Community Ambassador will play an important role in our efforts to increase awareness of our work throughout the region. By representing SVT at local meetings and events and by participating in social media conversations, you can advocate for SVT’s work and help us learn about the issues that are important to the residents of your community.

Through active involvement, the Community Ambassador will be able to advise the SVT staff on how to best engage the residents of his or her community in the SVT mission.

Tasks may include:

  • Attending local events and programs, such as Earth Day Festivals, Town Fairs, Farmers’ Markets, or environmental-related programs and presentations.
  • Collaborating with other SVT volunteers to organize and lead local programs.
  • Attending Town Meetings as well as the meetings of various municipal committees, such as the Conservation Commission, the Planning Board, or the Zoning Board of Appeals.
  • Apprising SVT about conservation issues covered in local news outlets, including the local newspaper, cable channel, or social media pages.
  • Participating in social media conservations and sharing SVT news in online discussion groups.
  • Apprising SVT of upcoming elections, meetings, community fairs and events, and conservation-related programs.

As this is a new position, the tasks and responsibilities will evolve.
