Marie Goeritz used her remote wildlife camera to photograph these white-tailed deer at SVT's Upper Mill Brook Conservation Area in Wayland.  Marie said she was "surprised to see mating-like behavior like mounting, given the season."  She wonders if "maybe they use it to establish hierarchy or for social bonding."

Will and Judy Mack used their remote camera to photograph these white-tailed deer at SVT's Gray Reservation in Sudbury.  Here's a bit about how they found the site:
"Snowshoes were required on our first reconnaissance.  We were amazed at all the tracks we saw.  The snow was old, so they were not distinct, but we had obviously found a deer trail and perhaps, judging by some larger depressions in the snow,  a winter deer yard.  The site is under evergreens and on a slight south-facing slope. Rain and several days of warm weather arrived before we went back to install the camera.  Now there was a broad brown trail of deer droppings winding through the woods on the remaining snow as far as the eye could see.  Here are a few photos from our first check of the camera after two weeks."
