Ron McAdow relates this experience from a walk at Mt. Misery Conservation Area in Lincoln.
"Today walking in the Mount Misery Conservation Area I had an encounter that surprised me. I came upon a snapping turtle."
"I never expect to see them on dry land until a month from now. I wondered what it was doing out of the water. It was headed uphill on the trail, away from the Sudbury River marsh, which was 80 yards behind and considerably lower. I watched it continue uphill, wondering where in the world it was going, when it left the trail and started down a gully. I realized that it might be headed toward a big vernal pond. Tadpoles, yum! I beat the turtle to the pool and waited for it. I was pleased to witness this."
