Russ Place photographed a pair of nest building ospreys in Hudson. Russ describes the challenges the brids have faced in the last few years, with multiple damaged or lost nests in heavy winds, and most recently the loss of the entire tree they had previously nested in. These photos show the pair rebuilding in a new tree, though Russ explains that each time they took off for more materials, some of the sticks would fall into the pond.
Russ also photographed a red-tailed hawk in a nest, also in Hudson, which he hopes to follow as the season progresses.
