Fisher?

November 2, 2008

Gloria Everett sent in this photo from her automatic wildlife camera in Sudbury.  Is it a fisher, or an adventurous house cat?

Margaret McKane writes:  '''Yesterday my husband and I took a stroll on the trail at Wolbach.  Around 4:30 pm., I spotted a nesting veery or thrush.  A moment later, my husband thought he saw a cat.  We quickly realized he had spotted a fisher, and not just one.  While we stayed still on the trail, a young fisher, full of curiosity came running up practically to our feet.  We heard vocalizations, and then the youngster bounded half way up a tree while his mother made a wide circle around us to check us out.  We had several minutes of exceptionally good viewing.  Needless to say, we were thrilled!'''
