Backyard Excitement in Stow
March 14, 2019

Guy Washburn shares an account and photos of an interaction between birds in his Stow back yard:
"First we were enjoying the sight of a northern flicker resting in a small tree above the suet feeder.
Next thing we knew, a Cooper's hawk flew down with a loud cry and took him out. The hawk sat on the ground with wings spread for a while, clutching the flicker.
Suddenly a barred owl flew in and startled the hawk, which let the flicker escape! The hawk flew off and the owl stayed on the ground for a bit, then he flew up into a nearby tree and sat for several minutes before flying up into some nearby pines."
