Annual Benefit

Thank you to the 263 people who attended SVT's 2016 Annual Benefit, the Superhero Bash, on Saturday, March 12, at the Sheraton in Framingham. This year’s auction fundraiser was the most successful in the 21 years we've hosted the benefit.

In addition to the traditional silent auction, we also held our first-ever live auction. More than 60 people raised their hand during this portion of the evening, providing valuable support to SVT.

Guests were invited to put their own spin on "conservation superhero" and dress accordingly. Many wore capes, some came as Mother Nature, and still others wore the masks of Rachel Carson and Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. (See photos.)

Tree Huggers at the Superhero BashA highlight of the evening was the Best Costume prize. Our judges chose four finalists--including Bill "Sol Man" Sterling and Kevin "Teddy Roosevelt" Paquin--and asked the crowd to applaud for their favorite. "Tree Huggers" Maggi and Richard Ciccarelli took the prize--a large basket of candy.

Mark your calendar for next year's benefit: Saturday, March 11, 2017. Have a theme idea or interested in volunteering to help plan this great party? Contact Michael Sanders or Deborah Sargent.

Thank you!

Thank you to all who attended the Superhero Bash and bid on the auction items. And thank you to others who could not attend but made donations.

Special thanks to Beals & Thomas and Village Bank for sponsoring the Bash and to all the businesses and individuals who donated to the auctions (see below).

Extra special thanks to the hard-working Benefit Committee: Iryna Priester (Chair), Andi Jenny, Ellie Johnson, Cindy Lombardo, and Sonja Strong. Nele Kaps gets special recognition for her inventive and dynamic invitation and program book design. Thanks also to Daria Greeley for contributing to the event theme.
