Date: September 22, 2012, Time: 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Beginning at Rte.225, Carlisle; ending at Lowell Road, Concord
Leader/Speaker: Jim Lagerbom and Dan Foster
As we transition from summer to autumn, this paddle will transition us to different periods in time and space. Beginning with current news near the put-in at Rte. 225 we'll pass an SVT land conservation project along the Concord River in Carlisle. Along the way, we'll paddle past the Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge and then travel back in time to historic Concord, where authors Thoreau, Emerson, and Hawthorne spent time, passing underneath the Old North Bridge and alongside The Old Manse. Finally, we will end at the meeting of the beginning of the Concord River where it's formed by the end of the Assabet and Sudbury Rivers -- the three rivers that define the region.
